Catholic Resources

This section comes from a group chat of one of the Catholic groups in SL and my realization that we do not have a good place to come together as a group. I will be researching the various Catholic churches in SL and putting together a list of places that we can gather for prayer, discussion and fellowship! Please be patient as this is a work in progress when I can get to it during my busy RL.

Catholic Churches in SL

For any church, just click on the link. The SLurl page with a map of Second Life will open with a marker at the location of the church. You can then click on the Teleport Now button to be teleported there. If you do not already have SL going, then it will start up.

• Kirche St. Sixtus Augsburger Weg Alstadt - This is a small but nice church in a German language sim. A very nice place for prayer!  It also seems to be popular for SL weddings.
• Catholica - There are several churches of various styles along the street in this sim. There used to be more, but it looks like some of the church buildings have been removed and the land is for sale. There is also a nice garden with a fountain! There is also a nice grotto dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes .
• Church of St George - This church is currently being built. They have made great progress since I first visited this church. Stop by and check on their progress!  Update: They have installed a full set of pews.
• Bavarian baroque-chapel - This is a nice and small chapel nearby the Church of St George that has seating in the monastic style. There are also nice grounds with places to sit and wander, and a nice grotto.
• Cathedral of Saint Mary, Mother of God - A nice church with peaceful grounds that include a Rosary garden, a duck pond and stations of the Cross.
• McLaglen Chapel - A small but nice chapel with a really nice pipe organ. This location also has nice grounds with a campfire and a pond.
• Church of St. Pio of Pietrelcina - A nice church and gardens with a Rosary garden.  The church is set up in the Tridentine style. 
• St Raphael Catholic Church - A church in an Old West themed sim with a steam train next door!  This church has a pose ball that allows your avatar to say the Mass.
• St Catharine's Church - A church next to Washington Square park in a NYC themed sim.
• St John Vianney Church - A nice church that also has the Stations of the Cross and a nice peaceful garden with a firepit.
• Walsingham - A church and grounds for the Anglican Use Catholic group.  This church is by the seaside and has a nice dock and a sailboat!

Other Places of Interest

• Sanctuary - Our Lady of Lourdes A nice grotto dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. Includes several pose balls that will allow your avatar to speak a prayer.
• Garden of Saint Fiacre - A beautiful and peaceful garden dedicated to the patron saint of gardeners. Enjoy the butterflies!
